According to a report from a report by Rick Semmier at Sports 10 WTHI television, former Rex and Rockville baseball star Dalton Laney has committed to IU. The pitcher spent the last two years at Indiana State, but struggled to get innings. Laney transferred this offseason to Lincoln Trail College. He'll pitch in the 2019 season for the Statesmen, then head to Bloomington. He'll have two years of eligibility remaining with the Hoosiers.
Laney, the 6'4", 210 pound right-hander from Rockville Illinois returned to his dominate self this summer with the Terre Haute Rex, where he posted a record of 3-1, with a 3.42 ERA during the Rex 2018 Prospect League championship season.
A three-year letter winner for Rockville High School, in 2015 the right handed pitcher guided Rockville to the schools very first baseball state title and to a 2014 runner-up finish. Laney garnered all-conference and all-state accolades all three seasons.
