Cole Vicars, a Terre Haute native, has built a career rooted in local baseball excellence. A 2007 graduate of Terre Haute South, Vicars was a four-year varsity starter who led the Braves to a sectional championship in his senior year. Known for his grit on the mound and consistency at the plate, he compiled an 18-13 pitching record and ranks in multiple school record books, including career hits (156), runs (118), and batting average (.417). He was a three-time MIC selection and the first baseball player in school history to win the prestigious McMillan Award, recognizing Vigo County's top high school athlete.
Vicars began his collegiate career at Vincennes University before transferring to Alcorn State University, where he continued to excel as a student-athlete & helping Alcorn win its first conference title and NCAA tournament berth. In 2010, he played for the inaugural Terre Haute REX team in the Prospect League, recording 20 hits and five strikeouts in 6.2 innings.
He began coaching at Vincennes University in 2014, serving as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator through 2018. Vicars also served as an assistant coach for the REX in 2014. He returned to Terre Haute, where he now continues mentoring players with a passion born from a lifetime in Wabash Valley baseball.
